I was like a wallflower I didn’t say anything all night. I was so shy I felt out of place like I did not fit in.. Every time I tried to talk to some girl at the party, words would not come out of my mouth and yes, it is true, there was a Jenny at the party, she was the one that was looking at me it was a surreal time for me because when I get onstage I am not shy I own it!!

Bob says “I was in a long term relationship and I always have my female friends that I hang out with, so one night we were all out drinking and one of my long time friend’s got a little too drunk,when I came down the corridor in the bar, she grabbed me threw me up against the wall and gave me a full hot sexy mouth to mouth long kiss like in the movies, then she walked away!! wow we never talked about it ever again, we remain friends but I will never forget that kiss, so I wrote a song about it and made a video too for it!!

I live in Queens, NY, you know where the accent is real New York here, so I ran into this girl’s Mother and she kept telling me to date her daughter, she is so sweet and kind, hmmmmm so I started dating her daughter, but this girl was a wild one she was a party girl out every night.. She drove me crazy.. so when a girl’s Mom says My daughter is so sweet with a nice personality, run for the hills!!!!!

“WE ARE STARS” A pounding Rock Anthem with a great guitar riff and catchy chorus.Bob’s insight on this one “This song is an Anthem for all the people that are having a rough time in life, getting put down every day, the only place they feel good is talking to their shadows: when we play this song live I want everyone to feel hope. We all shine, we are all stars so we hide our scars

“TAKE MY HAND” Haunting ballad which Bob describes as “We had a huge storm in New York City called “Sandy” and I was stuck inside my apt with my girlfriend at the time and we were in a big fight.She was in one room and I was in the other, we had no power so we lit candles all over our apt. It was a real New York story, living in a high rise apt on the Upper West Side, the rain was hitting the windows hard and I just started playing my guitar writing this song, she laid down beside me and we made up.

David Grissom has toured and recorded with John Mellencamp, Joe Ely, Storyville,The Allman Brothers Band, The Dixie Chicks, Chris Isaak, Robben Ford, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Ringo Starr, Buddy Guy, Bob Schneider and John Mayall among many others. His songs have been recorded by Trisha Yearwood, Lee Ann Womack, John Mayall, Shannon Curfman and Storyville,to name just a few. Over the years, he has been featured in Guitar Player, Guitar World, Musician, and Vintage Guitar magazines several times.

David moved to Austin in 1983 and quickly became a stalwart on the vibrant local scene. Playing first with Lucinda Williams, he then joined Texas legend Joe Ely’s band in 1985, touring and recording nonstop until 1991, when he joined John Mellencamp’s band. David made three records with John and toured extensively from 1991 through 1993. After, Mellencamp, David went back to Austin to form Storyville, the band that included the Double Trouble rhythm section and powerhouse vocalist Malford Milligan. Storyville released two CD’s for Atlantic Records,which were well received at various rock radio stations. Since 2000, David has divided his time between recording sessions, including the last three Buddy Guy CD’s, among scores of other releases, touring with the Dixie Chicks, Bob Schneider and also playing hundreds of his own gigs, while still finding time to produce his CD’s and two releases for Ryan Beaver.

In 2007 Paul Reed Smith Guitars introduced the DGT, David’s signature model guitar, which represents the culmination of a 25 year relationship working with Paul on the design and improvements of their guitars from a touring/session players perspective. David’s two PRS signature amps the DG-Customs, were just released in the Fall of 2013. David makes frequent appearances around the world giving guitar clinics and performing for PRS with their other artists, such as Orianthi, Brent Mason and Santana at NAMM, Musikmesse-Europe, Experience PRS-Japan / U.S., among various other shows.

David has three prior solo releases, “Loud Music”, “10,000 Feet” and “Way Down Deep” which was released in 2011. His fourth CD, “How It Feels To Fly” includes eight new original songs recorded in studio and four extended live cuts, of which two find David paying homage to fellow hometown guitarist, Billy Gibbons with a blistering version of the Z.Z. Top classic “Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings”and the other, to his ex-band mates the Allman Brothers with a spot on performance of “Jessica”. “How It Feels To Fly”  shows David confidently settling into the role of bandleader and solo artist, fitting nicely with his well established Guitar Slinger reputation.

I had the pleasure of a holiday in Austin Texas during October 2016, and was lucky enough to catch David Grissom live at the Saxon Bar on 3 occasions.I could not believe that such a world class musician and his equally talented band were tearing people’s heads off with the music they were playing……at tea time….For Free !!!!

Using his signature PRS DGT Guitar  and  PRS GRISSOM AMPLIFIER, David Grissom’s guitar tone is so thick, you can stand your pint on it, but the clarity is there too.

The first night I only caught the last 30 mins, but that was enough time for me to start picking splinters out of my chin as my jaw hit the deck time after time.

The second night saw the addition of guitarist Carter Arrington, whom I thought was there to play rhythm.Wrong !!!!!Carter is a world class player in his own right and now I was getting two for the price of none !My chin now needing scaffolding.Complementing all of this is bass player Scott Nelson who gets enough limelight to show he too is a class act.

WHAT PASSES FOR LOVE .. STORYVILLE

From the Album: A Piece Of Your Soul and based around a Texas shuffle,this song features the trademark Grissom open string riffs which fill the song with sound.The twist and turns in this song allow Grissom to infuse the instrumental sections with impeccable taste throughout.Great vocal performance from Malford Milligan, giving the song a soulful quality.

GOOD DAY FOR THE BLUES….STORYVILLE

Tasty acoustic intro kicks this song off for the first verse before the full band hits with a gorgeous groove full of punch and melody. A reference to BB King in the lyrics encourages David Grissom to pull off a great BB-style guitar solo. I was lucky enough to be there when Milligan got up with the DG Band and did this song live. What a great song from a great band.There’s the added bonus of the David Grissom solo version on his album “10,000 FEET” which has a more bluegrass sound to it.

NEVER CAME EASY TO ME

Swampy-sounding tune from the album “How it Feels To Fly“.David Grissom is synonymous with virtuoso guitar playing, but on his albums he concentrates on songwriting.Sure, the guitar playing always amazes, but his albums showcase what a fine lyricist/singer/songwriter he is.You can tell he takes time to get the lyrics right for the song, which is always King.

WAY DOWN DEEP

Title track of the same named album, Way Down Deep begins with a nice Beatles -Esque opening guitar chord leading to a funky guitar motif.Then the filthiest of texas swamp guitar oozes from the speakers, sparking the song into true texas style action with a guitar sound thicker than Rio Grande mud !!The textures of the guitar solos weave between grit and beauty to keep things interesting, showcasing why David Grissom is a world class talent.

SKIMMING THE SURFACE

From the album “WAY DOWN DEEP”

Very funky instrumental featuring a riff guitarists would have nightmares trying to decipher !!The studio version is great but check out the live versions which are usually double the length and enable David to really stretch out and show an incredible depth of influences in his playing.

TAKE ME BACK TO TEXAS.

A sentimental choice for me with this song.I had an amazing time in Austin TX and this song echoes many of the sentiments I feel every time I hear this tune.I look forward to going back to Austin next year and hope to catch more shows from the truly awesome

Temple Avenue…
…an alternative rock band based in the North East of the UK. Their music is a raw mix of rock, grunge and punk, with influences ranging from Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana to 3 Colours Red.
Uncomplicated and stripped back, Temple Avenue’s style has no room for pretentiousness or egotistical flamboyance; they’ve taken the bells and whistles and thrown them from a high speeding car, turned the radio up and not looked back.
Temple Avenue started life in mid 2013 under the name ‘Alter The Republic’, and quickly gained momentum during their first year. Support slots included Tek-One at the O2 Academy, hard rock band Fallen Red at Think Tank and opening for Saints of Arcadia at the highly successful launch of their debut EP “XI.MMXIV” as well as runners up for the 2014 Guitar Guitar sponsored Battle of the Bands at the legendary Trillians Rock Bar in Newcastle.
Early demos of two tracks “Black Box” and “Remedy” were quickly picked up by a number of independent radio stations, with local newspapers also providing support, helping to establish their name across the local scene.
After a couple of line up changes, the band felt a change of name was appropriate. Temple Avenue was conceived from the confused looks on people’s faces when faced with the question “sorry, Alter the What?”
The final third of 2015 has seen the trio, Craig (vocals and guitar), Martin (Bass and beard) and Dom (drums and vocals) refining their sound and writing new material. When discussing their writing process, the lads state they try not to take themselves too serious, but collectively agree that no single member should try to take artistic control of the music.
In May 2015 the band finally released their debut self titled EP. Available on CD and through a variety of digital platforms including iTunes, Google Play and Amazon, the EP has been well received by local media and the modest following the lads have brought together.

A ‘Big’ guitar song which would not sound out of place on a long lost Nirvana cd. Lovely pounding bass guitar sound from Martin Hudson complements the hammer drums of Dom Aitkenhead perfectly.Nice light and shade between the verses choruses which showcases the excellent voice of Craig Brown. How a 3 piece Band can make this much beautiful racket is beyond me but I bet this song is a killer in a live setting.!!

Black Box

Gorgeously filthy bass guitar intro piles nicely into another uptempo rocker.Another great mix on this song, drums big and punchy, good separation on the guitars and the vocals with great harmonies cut through very nicely.No doubt another live fave !!

Nowhere to Be

Nice “Nirvana” -sounding intro.Great arrangement keeps up the interest and another great performance from each member, stars all round here.

                                 Bill Leverty………………………..Guitarist of FireHouse and Solo Artist.

Thanks so much Bill for taking the time out of your busy schedule to talk to me today.

1.When was the moment you knew music was your life mission?

It was a series of little moments for me. Each time I saw a rock concert, I stepped closer to wanting to be a full time musician. My first concerts were The Doobie Brothers, Ted Nugent, Kiss, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd and BTO. Playing guitar during this time in my life helped draw me closer. The final decision to try to be a full-time musician came when I decided to take an indefinite hiatus after my first year of college. After many years of working real hard, I started to see some positive results.

2.Did you try to sound like anyone else when you were learning the guitar?

I tried to learn my favorite songs like they were on the recordings. These were the only real lessons I got other than the first basic chord chart lessons I got when I first started. Yes, I wanted to get the songs and solos right, so I guess I was trying to sound like everyone in my record collection.

3.Who was the first Major band you saw live?

The Doobie Brothers. They were amazing.

4.What was the first record you bought and why?

Ted Nugent’s first album. I heard “Stranglehold” and had to own it, then I had to learn how to play it.

5.what inspired you to take up the guitar?

I was always drawn to the sound of the guitar. When I learned my first 3 chords (D, C, and G), I could play “Sweet Home Alabama”. I was hooked from then on.

6.How does musical inspiration come to you?

It’s 90% perspiration, 10% inspiration. I go down to my studio and play my guitar until I come up with something that I think sounds interesting to me. It usually takes a lot of time. I’ve also been inspired by singing. Sometimes, just singing a melody helps to generate the spark that lights the fire. Sometimes an idea will come in a dream. More often than not though, it’s just going into my studio and working, practicing, and trying to come up with something that I haven’t done before.

7.who are your favourite Songwriters?

There are so many. I’ll name a few of the bands. Beatles, Scorpions, Skynyrd, Boston, Aerosmith, Dixie Dregs, The Eagles. I could go on and on. I’m sure I’m leaving some out. There are so many great writers out there.

8.When you began learning guitar did you have an ambition to turn it into a successful career?

Not at first, but pretty soon I wanted to be able to make a living as a professional musician. I never wanted to be a big rock star or anything like that. I just wanted to be a professional musician who could pay my bills.

9.what are you most proud of as a musician?

I’m proud to have been a part of a band whose songs have had a positive impact on people’s lives. I’ve heard stories that our songs have made a difference for people in a good way, either keeping a family together, helped someone who was going through a depression in their life, or helped someone fight cancer. These are the things that make me feel good about what I’ve done as a musician.

10.How do you approach writing for Firehouse compared to your solo work?

I try to write any way I can. It’s a never ending challenge. When You’re not thinking about it, it doesn’t happen. Writing is pretty much the same process not matter how I’m doing it. I try to come up with an idea that has potential. Either a riff or a chorus, or just a title or hook it can get it started. If the idea is good enough, it’ll hopefully lead to the next part of the song, next chord change, etc. I try to let the song tell me where it wants to go. I don’t force it. When I work on my own, I don’t have the other guys to bounce the ideas off of, so things tend to go a bit slower.

11.How does your live guitar rig differ from your recording rig.?

I’ve been using the Fractal Audio Axe FX 2 for both. The only thing that has changed is that a few months ago, I got a Fractal Audio AX8, which is pedal board with the same amazing amp and speaker tone. It’s more compact and fits in my backpack. My Axe FX 2 is now in my studio. The  AX8 has a little less processing power so you can only use 2 amps in one patch and you can’t load up a bunch of effects all at once, but my sound isn’t very heavy with effects anyway.

12.What is your approach to recording your guitar parts?

I start out with the writing process, hoping that I can use some of the tracks that I’m initially recording. So, I’ve got a guitar sound dialed up with the Axe FX that fits the part of the song I’m working on, and I just record it directly into Protools. I save the preset because frequently, I’ll want to change what I played, and with the Axe FX2, it’s so easy to just go to that preset and it’s right there. No changing settings on an amp, adjusting the mic in the other room, mic pre, EQ, compressor, etc. It’s exactly the same, so it really takes the pressure off. There’s much more freedom now and the tone is STUNNING.

13.what’s the best advice you have been given?

“Take a course in music theory.”

14.A lot of musicians don’t read music or know theory.What is your take on this.?

I’m not a good sight reader, but taking music theory REALLY helped me. I’ll never know enough theory. It’s the kind of thing that can always improve my musicianship. Music theory probably helped me more than anything. I also had a great teacher which made it a lot of fun.

14.As someone in the Rock spotlight, how do you balance your music with having a family.?

It was tough at first to be honest. I managed and tour managed our band for over 9 years. I was in my office most of the day advancing shows, production, rider requirements, etc. I was working with our booking agent to organize tours, working with the other guys in the band to get a consensus on business decisions, working with our accountant to keep our books organized so that it was easier for him to prepare our corporate returns at the end of the year. I was booking the flights, hotels, vans, busses, writing the paychecks, managing the merch inventory, on and on. On a show day, my to-do list was completely full, then I had to get up on stage and smile, sing, & play guitar. On top of all this, I was producing and engineering recording projects, running our indy label, working with distributors around the world to get our CD’s out. There was very little time left for my family. I didn’t see a problem for a long time because I have an amazing wife, but it soon became readily apparent that we needed a change. I talked to the band and told them that I just couldn’t carry this workload much longer. They understood and right about that time, a guy, who we all knew and loved, gave me a call looking for a gig. He jumped right in as our tour manager. I then learned what balance really felt like. It’s easier these days because we mainly go out and play gigs on the weekends so I’m at home during the week. I can go to my daughter’s sporting events, plays, etc. I can be there when she gets home from school and help her with her homework. I still get dragged into the management of our band from time to time, but nothing like it used to be.

15.Any weird stories backstage at one of your gigs ?

There are so many. It seems like every night there’s something weird that happens. Most of the stories are things that I can’t repeat because I’d be throwing someone under the bus. I can say that backstage has gotten much less of an animal house vibe now that we’re a little bit more seasoned. Back in the day, everyone was on eleven.

16.which solo album MOST represents who you are as a musician ?

For me, it’s a tie between SOUTHERN EXPOSURE and DRIVE. SOUTHERN EXPOSURE represents myself as a guitarist playing instrumental music, basically singing the melodies with my guitar. I tried to write interesting changes in those songs and still make it easy to listen to as an instrumental album. DRIVE, which is an album of cover tunes from my youth, shows my influences before I decided that I wanted to become a musician. I tried to put my style into these songs without losing the vibe of the original artist. I feel like this album shows where I’m coming from as a singer. It’s my way of going back in time and being the singer in a cover tunes band. These are the songs that I’d want to have in the setlist. I’m working on my fifth solo album now. I hope to have it done by the end of the year.

17.Who made you feel the most starstruck when you met them ?

Ted Nugent. He was one of my biggest influences, and when I met him for the first time, I was shaking. Later, in 1993, FireHouse got to tour with Damn Yankees and Poison. On this tour, Ted was extremely kind to me and we became friends. He’d sit down and eat with me at catering. Ted would come to where I was warming up with my little 9 volt battery powered Marshall amp that I had clipped to my belt and he’d play me something he was working on. Last year, FireHouse opened up for him at Sturgis and Ted was on the side of the stage watching us. After his set, he walked right up to me and shook my hand. He’s a great guy and he’s singing and playing better than ever.

“BILL LEVERTY”

Bill Leverty (born January 30, 1967) is an American guitarist currently a member of the hard rock band Firehouse

Bill was born in Richmond, Virginia. His parents gave him a guitar when he was 4 years old, but when he grew up he put it aside and took up diving and ice hockey instead. When he was 15 years old, he took up the guitar again, and studied music theory in high school.

He started a band called White Heat. Auditioning for a drummer, he met Michael Foster and was impressed with him. Some time later, they hooked up with C.J. Snare and Perry Richardson, and formed FireHouse. One day, Leverty got an endorsement deal with Yamaha Guitar Development and has been playing them since.

After 15 years with FireHouse, Bill released his first solo album.

Says Bill of the launch of his solo career

“In 2004 I released my first side project Wanderlust. The album received wonderful reviews from both critics and fans. I am very grateful for the overwhelmingly positive reaction.

In December of 2007 I released my first instrumental album Southern Exposure. I played all of the instruments except drums, as I was able to bring in Michael Foster for his amazing drumming talent. The album has received many great reviews. I plan on going out and playing these songs in music stores around the world as I do clinics to demonstrate various gear that I play. In June of 2009 I released my first album of cover tunes. After finishing the album I realized that all of the songs had originated in the Southern United States, so I named the album Deep South after an amazing piece of artwork that my Grandfather, William G. Leverty, had created called Deep South. The music is very diverse and most of the songs were written in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I’m playing a lot of instruments on this album that I had never recorded before. You can hear some sound clips on the Deep South page. I hope you enjoy the music!
In 2013, I released an album of classic cover tunes that influenced and inspired me in my youth. The album is called DRIVE. I thought it would be a great learning experience for me to go back to the songs that made me want to become a musician. I learned from not only the greatest artists and songwriters of all time, but also from the producers and engineers who made these timeless recordings. Some of these songs were number one hits, and some were songs that were so important to me in my formative years that I HAD to put them on this album. The result is an album that will show you how I started. Anyone familiar with Firehouse will know Bill Leverty as a virtuoso guitarist of the highest calibre,but in his solo career he takes over lead vocal duties too which are almost as good as his guitar playing.STRONG powers in with gutsy instrumentation before highlighting a beautiful bluesy groove in the verse featuring some liquid bass lines.The chorus kicks in to reveal an ultra catchy dedication to his Old Lady ,powered along by some kickass drumming.During the guitar solo Leverty delivers a thrill-a-second masterclass in taste and technique before the chorus takes us out the big finale.Wow !! what an introduction.

Boll Weevil

Quite a departure in sound and style from Firehouse.Boll Weevil has a brilliant mix of southern sweat and modern groove with, as you’d expect, great guitar tones.The vocal takes on the “megaphone” treatment and the arrangement keeps you on your toes with lots of sonic twists and turns and a surprisingly understated solo from Bill, relying on taste this time over technique, and very nice it is too.It just goes to show the depth of songwriting skills Leverty taps into outside the confines of Firehouse.

THE BLOOM IS OFF THE ROSE

Beautiful moody intro hints at a love song but this is anything but, lyrically, and the Santana-type lead lines at the start also hide the stinging lyrical content which brings to mind a myriad of lead singers I could think of with an “axle” to grind perhaps.The instrumentation is deep and menacing with a fat production which lends well to the sentiments of the song.The guitar solo is beautifully poignant, dripping with emotion

MARINA CITY

Fusing melodic top 40 pop sensibility with a heavy punk rock edge, Marina City given their growing audience something they didn’t even know they craved. Dubbed “One of Chicago’s best up and coming bands”* and “THE Chicago band to watch out for, Marina City is set to release their 3rd Ep, Wanderlust, on August 11, 2015. The band’s first two releases, In the Wake of Dreaming (2012) and Chimera (2014) have watched the band develop from their pop-punk roots into a more melodic yet in-your-face sound. But for the newest EP, Wanderlust, the Chicago sextet traveled 6,000 miles to producer Casey Bates (Pierce The Veil, Chiodos, and Portugal. The Man) to record a collection of songs in a genre that the band has coined “Aggressive Pop Rock”. On The Request Magazine says: “ (Marina City) have brought a very real, intense rock flavor to vocals that could easily appear in today’s top 40… they are showing the world what real music in popular culture could and should sound like.”

Since debuting at a sold out House of Blues show, the sextet has gained through heavy online and street promotion an intensly dedicated fan base they call The Lost Boys. Nice subtle piano vocal intro and verse, building to a slow tempo ballad , beautifully produced and performed.Tasty harmonies abound.The type of song where you know you haven’t it but you think you have.The mark of a great song.

WHEN YOU LEFT ME 

Another slow paced song but with huge guitars and harmonies.Again, ridiculously catchy but very emotive.

I CAN’T LOVE YOU

Great rhythmic intro, this song features all 3 vocalists and it works very well.Another impassioned vocal from lead singer Ryan Argast and a showcase for the instrumental talents of the band during the mid section with some stunning interplay between all the band….awesome!!!

THE HAUNTING

Uptempo rocker this time, another huge sounding track with the band tight as a camel’s arse in a sandstorm and instantly catchy again and showcasing a classy lead guitar break from Todor Birindjiev.

COLD FOR JUNE

Based out of Orlando, Fl, Cold For June is a Post Hardcore/Pop Rock band with an edgy, high-energy sound. Their material has attracted attention from fans and critics alike, allowing them to be highlighted in Pop Vulture Magazine and be the 791zero Network featured artist for the week of March 24, 2013.  Cold For June has played alongside bands including, but not limited to, Close Your Eyes (Victory Records), Lower Than Atlantis (Island Records), and Kid Liberty (Bullet Tooth Records).

With experience in many aspects of the music industry, singer Alan Reitman has worked with renowned music producer James Paul Wisner (Paramore, Underoath, Dashboard Confessional, The Academy Is…, and more) and recorded Search The City’s newest material (2012) after their three-year hiatus. Working with these notable industry names has allowed Alan to use his diverse music knowledge to make catchy vocals, create intricate guitar riffs, and incorporate synths and orchestral instruments that all contribute to Cold For June’s unique and refreshing sound.

“DISTANCE”  

 HIGH energy start featuring some great drumming and huge guitars !!! This track also has Joshy Singer as a guest from the band Blessing A Curse, but I feel Alan Reitman steals the vocal show on this one. His voice is clear, strong and very melodic, giving the song a much more commercial edge, set against a backdrop of beautifully brutal instrumentation. Nice light and shade in the middle of the song gives breathing space before the mayhem recommences with more mind-blowing drumming !!! Check this out !!!!!! The production is top notch, just enough power but without descending into clipping, and the arrangement is inventive:lots to keep the listener interested.

There are a glut of bands in this Genre who, I feel, spoil good songs by featuring wasteful “Screamo” vocals.There are some here in DISTANCE, but are used sparingly to add a new dynamic to the song rather than rely on it. Awsome !!!!!

NO MORE

Tasty subdued guitar and vocal eases the listener into the track before piledriving into a pacey pounding tune.

Again, very commercial without sacrificing the power of those huge guitars and drums.Great guitar solo in this one too.

ROYALS (LORDE COVER)

You’ll no doubt be aware of the song Royals by Lorde which was a big hit in 2013. Well Cold for June do a rock version here, featuring the trademark Big Guitars and Drums, and do you know what ?? It works !! It’s great to hear those familiar vocal harmonies backed with sonic pandemonium from the band.Even the guitar solo works. Again, Alan Reitman shines here and his voice works just fine on this track.

With so many bands in this genre of Post Hadcore PunkPop out there right now, Cold For June stand out from the rest.

NARROW PLAINS

Narrow Plains are an acoustic-indie, trio based in London, consisting of Charlie Ferriday (guitar/vocals), Stuart Connick (drums/back-up vocals) and Roger Connick (bass/back-up vocals). They have performed at prestigious venues such as the 02 Academy Islington, 100 Club, Barfly and Cavern Club in Liverpool. They have also played at festivals like TWF, Redfest, Shoreditch, Yardlife, Lechlade and Amprocks.

Narrow Plains formed in early 2012 after self-recording and producing their debut EP “Somewhere In Between” at minimal cost but to some considerable critical acclaim – “the passion and fury that spawns this type of intense creation is evident in both the lyrics and sound” (Kei Hendrix, Bandmark).

The band has recently received international acclaim, being selected as Judges Pick 2014 by a prestigious panel of music experts in the USA-based Bands4Good online talent contest, winning a recording session with the legendary John Davenport in his North Carolina studio. They were also winning finalists in the 2014 Canadian “Live In Your City” contest of Uprise.FM and have just been selected for the live heats of the Hard Rock Rising competition.

The band has recently released another self-produced, double A single, “So Rewind”/ “Keep You Anyway”. “’So Rewind’ has just been picked as BBC Introducing South Track of the Day. They continue to write and perform a large number of original songs and have signed an album deal with Smart Indie Music. They hope to release their debut album in early summer 2015.

An uptempo Acoustic rocker which evokes an instant crowd-pleaser which would not sound out of place on the Main Stage at Glastonbury. The self production is great too, nice punchy drums, driving acoustic guitar and tight yet fluid bass playing.A hell of a racket for a 3 piece !!!!! Very tasty acoustic guitar intro leads to another punchy tune with an infectious drum and bass groove.It’s impossible to keep still, listening to this song, another dead cert for a live favourite.When I listen to a band, the first thing I look for is does the singer have a commercial sounding voice. In other words, would I buy the records and would I want to see the band live after hearing the other musicians ? With Narrow Plains the answer is a resounding “YES”.They already sound like the finished article.

Everything has come together on this song!! great sound, top lyrics, tight punch-groove playing and the best vocal performance of the lot, combining in the best song to date !!! If this song does not get NARROW PLAINS noticed in the music world then we might as well all give up !!!Wonderful stuff.

In an age when people like Kanye West have to try desperately  to be controversial  in order to cover up a lack of musical talent, it is so refreshing to hear a band like NARROW PLAINS who do genuinely possess talent doing their best to stick true to what’s real in this world.

Sarah Peacock is a rare talent these days ! Not often do you find a Singer/Songwriter who grabs you with a vocal the first few seconds you hear it, but she does it on HURRICANE. Her voice is crystal clear, articulate, but with a power and warmth of tone that can’t be taught !!! Sarah uses her voice as an instrument like  only true musicians do, and her beautiful tone never falters as she reaches falsetto highs or bassy lows. Incredible.!! Another great opening line “I am rubber, You are glue” !!! A heartfelt story of being excluded from the “In Crowd” or the Cool Kids. Such a great song of just voice and guitar portraying how cruel life can be sometimes to those seemingly marginalised kids, and yet kids can be cool in other ways outside of the spotlight.Awesome. !! And even cool kids can be bullied in other ways.

With a voice and talent like Sarah Peacock’s, she deserves to be a superstar.May the Man Upstairs look down on her and make things right by granting her wish !!

Ok, so some relaxing water-meditation starts this track to lull you into a false sense of security, because pretty soon you get hit with some awesome instrumentation of great guitar riff, bass and drums forming a really swampy, grungy sound.Great odd time signature with nice dissonant guitar chords bring in the brilliant voice of Chris Chandler.I’m featuring STEGO today because from the first 10 seconds of this song I was dragged into the sound of this brilliant 3-piece Band, and I know in the first few moments if I’m going to like a band or not.Here, there was no contest, cos by the time the double-speed chorus kicks in I’m a goner !!!!By the end I KNOW Chris is in a Cage Down By The River !!!!!

There’s more water at the start of this track but it hints at something more menacing like the sound of something wriggling around like the Loch Ness Monster maybe !! Then another grimy guitar riff oozes from the speakers like the creature from the Black Lagoon,as Chris Chandler portrays life at the bottom .This is an epic track !!!!!!You can almost smell the stench of the stagnant pool below.Great Production again with a massive sound.

Another attention-grabbing introduction, this time featuring uptempo drums and bass overlaid with lush instrumental guitars in a Proggy kind of way. Really cool !!Nice punchy light and shade in the verses and chorus and a very tasty bass/guitar middle section, all atmospheric and some gorgeous lead guitar delayed lines, leading to some frenetic drumming racing to the end.Breathtaking stuff !!!
