HALESTORM

Halestorm is an American hard rock band from Red Lion, Pennsylvania. The group’s self-titled debut album was released on April 28, 2009, through Atlantic Records. Their second album The Strange Case Of… was released on April 10, 2012. The song “Love Bites (So Do I)” from that album won their first Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance on February 10, 2013.

Siblings Arejay and Elizabeth “Lzzy” Hale have been actively writing and performing original music since 1997 when they were 10 and 13 years old, respectively. Both brother and sister started learning piano at the age of 5; Lzzy later progressed to a keytar and Arejay to the drums. Lzzy took guitar lessons at 16. The teen siblings released an EP titled Don’t Mess With the Time Man in 1999. In 2003, Joe Hottinger joined the band. In Halestorm’s earliest incarnation, Lzzy and Arejay’s father Roger Hale played bass before Josh Smith joined the group in 2004.

After scoring two top 10 singles (“I Get Off” and “It’s Not You”) from their self-titled debut and touring steadily for two years with acts as diverse as Shinedown, Stone Sour, Disturbed, Megadeth, Papa Roach, Godsmack and countless others, Pennsylvania quartet Halestorm are back with their second full-length album, The Strange Case of….

AND SO TO THE MUSIC !!!!

 “Freak Like Me”(http://youtu.be/vxFQRmjk3rQ)

Great riffy intro leads to drum-heavy verse, then hammers into the catchiest chorus you’ll ever hear featuring the powerhouse vocal of LZZY HALE,packed with power, passion and melody all in one !!! Awesome. Also a cool guitar solo.

“I GET OFF” (http://youtu.be/sFCe4UCkuw8)

Slower-paced rocker with nice drum/guitar interplay. Another blazing chorus full of passion and heat. Very sensual

“IT’S NOT YOU” (http://youtu.be/QVYgoejO3ac)

Cowbell start into yet another ear-worm chorus , lovely grungy riff for the verse, powerhouse drumming and a vocal that could fell a rhino at a thousand paces.

HALESTORM are a great Band that you must check out, and, in Lzzy Hale, have one of the top vocalists in the world right now !!!

BEST BAND of the DAY is…”From Ashes to New”.

“FROM ASHES to NEW”

From Ashes to New is a Rap-rock/Alternative metal band that hails from Central Pennsylvania.

From Ashes to New is a six piece band that is produced, recorded and engineered by Grant McFarland of Atrium Audio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Grant, an accomplished musician and producer in his own right, is regarded to be the seventh member of the band.

While some attempt to compare the sound of From Ashes to New to other existing bands, after listening to their songs from front to back one cannot claim that the band is like any other.

Matt Brandyberry (Vocals)
Chris Musser (Vocals)
Dan Kecki (Guitar)
Branden “Boo” Kreider (Guitar)
Garrett Russell (Bass)
Tim D’onofrio (Drums)

So, what is all the fuss about From Ashes to New ?? Guess what !! A big Fuss !!! This Band is incredible.

I get sent music every day from bands and I always look for something a bit special to choose as my Best Band of the Day.

These guys fit that bill perfectly.Their music style is described as  Rap-Rock/Alternative Metal that is exactly what you get, and more ! There’s even Electro in there. To the songs then.

“STAY THIS WAY” ( http://youtu.be/n1Te-3gZFLI)

Beautiful piano/strings intro, understated vocal leads into a great Rap before the songs smashes into a huge sang/rapped chorus with battering drums and massive chorus. Then the kitchen sink gets thrown into this incredible production from McFarland.Breath-taking !!!!!

“MY FIGHT”(http://youtu.be/K0a9a8PUPrA)

You think this is a standard Rap song on the intro til the mayhem starts kicking in with another big chorus full of drums n guitars. We get screamo in the middle 8 into another chorus and the combination of music styles is electrifying.

“DESTRUCTION OF MY SELF” (http://youtu.be/WoRsbSb3mMA)

Apocalypse style intro with nice piano again, great rap over an electro beat leads into an intense full band chorus.Another stunning production to keep the listener’s interest at a peak.

It is wonderful to hear a group of musicians pushing the boundaries of what can be done within the musical format.

Hats off to an incredible band that is “FROM ASHES to NEW”

Stämpf

After 25 years of rocking the stages the timing just feels right for Stämpf to release his own solo album. It only makes sense that his CD is named after himself “Stämpf”. It offers “honest-to-rock”, unadulterated music and lyrics penned by the artist himself.
Stämpf has been menacing small and big stages since 1986: early on with the “scandal rockers” Tyte Stone, then with Mud Slick and San Dimas all over Europe, and lastly with the fun punk band QL singing in his native Swiss German dialect (the latter also at times with the famous Pepe Lienhard band). But, it was his appearance as choir director on the “Clash of the Choirs” TV show that forever sealed his reputation as a kick ass naughty entertainer with his very own “hairdo”: front hawk, or as he likes to call it in German “Stirnirokese” (or… “Forehead Hawk”).
Now Stämpf is up with his own solo album. The original Churer (say Coorer… just think of Coors Light!) just recently moved back to his hometown where he reconnected with his own musical roots and the love of listening to his own compositions. Fat melodies harmonizing with English lyrics revealing the hidden rebel as in the song “King of the Street” for instance. Between social criticism and heavy guitar riffs you’ll also hear a radio worthy ballad or even a guest appearance of Gotthard’s own Freddy Scherer. The album was produced by famous songwriter Reto Burrell.

So, what do Stampf sound like ?

“Waterfall”  (http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/artist_videos/3292795)
A very commercial slice of grungy rock/pop with a great chorus and fine vocals from the man himself.Great Song.
“King of the Street”(http://www.reverbnation.com/st%C3%A4mpf/song/17607492-king-of-the-street)
Another very catchy tune in the grungy Foo Fighters mold.Nice drive and mix between clean and dirty chords with a tasty guitar solo. Awesome !!!
“Don’t Believe “( http://www.reverbnation.com/st%C3%A4mpf/song/16980068-dont-believe-feat-freddy-scherrer)
I like the way the vocal does’nt pick the obvious tried n tested melodies in the verse.Another cracking chorus with an outrageous guitar solo !! Love it Great production throughout. And man this guy can sing. Another hit track.
“Slow Down” (http://www.reverbnation.com/st%C3%A4mpf/songs#)
Slow Down does indeed do that with another very memorable song with a big chorus.Lovely harmonies on the middle eight.
This band Stämpf are brilliant for listening in the car, with an uplifting, feelgood sound you never tire of hearing.
you have to check them out.!!!!

LoGOz

LoGOz are a 3 piece band formed in the wet Summer of 2012 based in and around Ashington, Northumberland. Doing their own unique brand of bass-less, energetic, short, sharp and catchy Punk Rock! (yes, capital letter and exclamation mark) Schizofrantic Punk Rock Melodica! if you like. Hell bent on playing Live whenever, whatever and with whoever!!!

Slightly different from your normal bands because they don’t have a bass player, just 2 guitars and a set of drums.

Bursting onto the scene in the Summer of 2012 LoGOz have played up and down the country, including London, Edinburgh and Blackpool, to name a few of their favourite destinations. Picking up fans wherever they play LoGOz released their ‘Psycho Radio “debut album ’ in June 2013. Received well it has had airplay on local radio stations and, in the last week or so of October 2013 has had tracks debuted on American radio, this has led to fantastic feedback and things are looking promising for future projects.

While they are primarily a “plugged in and rocking” band they often play acoustic sets and have played live on local radio, rearranging their songs to suit.

After starting off 2014 playing to a sold out Cluny 2, adding their 100th gig to their gig listing and having bookings for Leeds, Sheffield and Birmingham among many others they are well on the way to making 2014 their most successful year already.

“MEXICOLA”  (http://youtu.be/JZ_vctPzJJc)

Just over 3 minutes of perfect Power Pop Punk, all blazing Gibsons and thundering para-diddles !! A nostalgic look back at how great it was to be young.First time you hear it you go ….” hit record”.

“Dead or Living in America” (http://youtu.be/m9NQuoeoaak)

Slower paced with even a hint of Zeppelin’s Kashmir about the riff.A powerhouse ditty if desperation.

“SKELETONS” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oTBynS9HP4)

Another slice of power punk mayhem.

THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT

The Temperance Movement are a British blues rock band formed in 2011 by Glasgow-born vocalist Phil Campbell and guitarists Luke Potashnick (ex-Rooster and Ben’s Brother) and Paul Sayer. The rhythm section consists of former Jamiroquai bassist Nick Fyffe and the Australian-born drummer Damon Wilson, who has played with the likes of Ray DaviesThe Waterboys and Feeder. The band released their “Pride EP” in 2012, and their eponymous debut studio album was released on 16 September 2013.

The Temperance Movement’s first release was their “Pride EP”, which came out on 10 September 2012, and featured five tracks: “Ain’t No Telling”, “Only Friend”, “Pride”, “Be Lucky” and “Lovers & Fighters”. The following week, the band appeared at the 2012 edition of the Sunflower Jam SuperJam at the Royal Albert Hall, where, as the opening act, they played the first two tracks from their EP. The band also played at Futurerock at the 100 Club (Oxford Street, London) on 9 November 2012,and they embarked on a UK tour from late April to early May 2013. The band’s debut studio album, The Temperance Movement, was released on 16 September 2013 on Earache Records. The album features the five tracks from the “Pride EP” alongside seven other songs.

The Temperance Movement are hewn from the same “ROCK” as the Faces, Free and the Black Crowes, filtered through the Glaswegian grit of Phil Campbell’s imperious voice.

Only a proper band uses Les Pauls, SG’s Telecasters and Grolsch bottle top rubbers for strap locks !!!!

Live, they are tight as a camel’s arse in a sandstorm and will guarantee to shake even the most sedentary limb into action.

The sound is analogue-friendly, not Pro Tools trickery, music straight from the heart. If you like your music rootsy, punchy and organic, then you’ll love the likes of

DON’T CALL IT (http://youtu.be/Nqw_2WIAxKw)

MIDNIGHT BLACK(http://youtu.be/_Ya8EAv_6-8)

AIN’T NO TELLIN(http://youtu.be/ZtAZTgaog9o)

All showcasing yet another amazing “sweaty sock” voice, that of Phil Campbell who must be the currently the best British vocalist .

The saviour of British Rock ??? You’d better believe it.

“NEVER LET THIS GO”

Alternative RockPop Punk

Tempe, AZ

Formed in January 2012 by lead vocalist David Kleinebreil and guitarist Nick Giovannucci, the band solidified their lineup in July with bassist Alex Gilbertson and drummer Jordan Auge. Drawing from Yellowcard, Blink-182, and Jimmy Eat World as their primary musical influences, the band recorded their debut self-titled EP, released in May, with local producer David Ludlow. The music uses their past experiences to write songs with relatable themes such as growing up, leaving home, ending relationships, and general life transitions.

NLTG parted ways with guitarist Giovannucci in summer 2013, bringing in Austin Jones to round out the lineup on lead guitar and backup vocals.

The band released their second EP, Remember, on August 23; this time co-produced by the local team of David Ludlow (Greeley Estates) and Dan Parker (A Change of Pace). The EP marks a new direction for the band, with driving guitars and powerful lyrics making Remember a solid addition to NLTG’s catalog.

“THIN RED LINE”(http://youtu.be/viyqiWJEi8Q)

A powerhouse choon from a young 4-piece Band packed with power, melody and mayhem, TRL is a great example of the band’s raison d’etre with clear, hard hitting production. Very commercial.

“RAVINE”(http://youtu.be/Jk6l44X5nto)

Cool piano intro builds slowly into a Coldplay-type refrain before a mellow verse kicks onto a killer chorus.

Nice light & shade in another great song.

“END TABLES and ONE NIGHT STANDS(http://youtu.be/7TyzX1yoRNU)

New release, jangly guitar hits in with punchy guitar drums and bass, great production again, and another catchy song which batters its way into your brain until it gives in with cries of “More Please”!!!!

Gotta give these guys a look n listen !! you won’t be disappointed !!!!!!

                  Screen-Shot-im-not-leaving

I Divide are a five piece Devonshire rock band consisting of Tom Kavanagh (Vocals), Henry Selley (Lead Guitar), Josh Wreford (Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals), Kristen Hughes (Bass) all from Exeter, England and Dave Mooney (Drums), who is from Torquay, England, who formed from the local music scene, after being in separate bands alongside each other.

The band was Red Bull bedroom Jam Winners 2012, a project that helps young bands get out of the bedroom and onto the big stage, where after getting through to the final eight meant they were able to perform at Download FestivalHevy Music Festival andSlam Dunk Festival. Getting through to the final three meant they were able to make a music video free of charge, which later on became the video for the song ‘Never Be Stopped’. They then went on to win the competition, where the prize was two weeks worth of recording time at Red Bull Studios in London and a month long tour supporting Welsh band Funeral For a Friend With the two weeks recording in Red Bull Studios, the band recorded four tracks which became the I Divide ‘Album Sampler’ which was produced by John Mitchell and Ben Humphries and engineered by Brendon Harding.

So, what do “I DIVIDE”  sound like ?? The word that come to mind is “powerful” as demonstrated by the song

“Follow Me” featuring a clever, subdued intro before pounding into a piledriver of a song laced with energy , melody and impassioned vocals.. and some lovely bass drum work from Dave Mooney !!

“I’m Not Leaving” another slow beginning ,the second single to be taken from ‘Last One Standing’, the debut album. Great chorus and some nice vocal light and shade from Tom Kavanagh

“Burning out” Tasty picked clean guitar intro lulls the listener into a false sense of security before hammering into an uptempo rock menace.More impressive drumming in evidence here before finishing in a moody slow tempo fade out. What  a song !! what a Band !!

For such a young Band, I DIVIDE have all the credentials to really make it in this World. BE WARNED !!

THIS BAND COULD FELL A RHINO AT A 1000 PACES.!!!!!!!

Release date ‘Last One Standing’ – 14th April 2014
